2001 toyota highlander will not start
I have a 2001 Highlander with a V6. My wife was driving home with the cruise on when the car downshifted and could not maintain speed. When she got home I took the car for a drive and it would not accelerate... seemed to have a loss of power.

I pulled the codes and got a 1150 and 1130 O2 sensor issue. It is unlikely that both of my O2 sensors died at the same time. I thought my wife might have picked up some bad fuel so I dropped in some additive and now the car will not start.

The MAF sensor was a little dirty but it ohmed out O.K. and does not seem to be a problem. The ETC sensor appears to be working normally... the throttle position sensor is responsive and the resistance changes with rotation. I have gas, compression, and plenty of spark. However, when I pulled the plugs they were all wet (gas) so I was wondering if maybe the car was trying to run too rich.

The car will not start at all right now... any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Do you have spark at the plugs and/or injector pulse while it's a 'no start'?
How many miles? And what else can you share about the vehicle's maintenance history?

The car has 150,000 miles on it and other than gas, oil, and tires it has been pretty maintenance free. I dropped a new timing belt in around 130,000 miles and the old beast has been running fine ever since.

I do have spark at the plugs... not sure about the injector pulse but there is plenty of fuel in the cylinders.

One other item of note... I did get the car to start up and it ran rough for a bit. It had trouble revving up (no load) but eventually hit 5,000 rpms. The car started much better when everything was a bit warmer. It ran smooth at 5,000 rpm and below until I let it idle for a bit then it started misfiring, slowed down to around 500 rpm @ idle, and then died.

    Thanks

Wow! No load at 5000 RPM? Wowzers!
Have you had fuel pressure tested? Have you had the injectors professionally cleaned?
You may need to have an O.E. scan tool connected to do hands-on diagnosis on this one.

I'd focus on the MAF Sensor, which is likely bad.
