7 Days late, No period, No pregnant signs, Neg tests
Hi guys, new to this and really would appreciate help!

I came off my pill in December (6 months ago). My periods so far have been regular (January 9th, Feb 7th, March 7th, April 9th). Between April and now (May 16th), I experienced a brownish discharge starting on 24th for about 5 days. Not much at all but it was there. Then when I was due on (between 7-9th May), I got a lot of white discharge, and felt like I was coming on…. But I didn't….
Now it's the 16th May, so 7 days after my expected period. I have done 3 pregnancy tests, these have been negative. Different brands too – still negative. (Negatives on 2nd day of missed period, 5th day of missed period and 7th day of missed period – this morning).

I am going to the toilet a LOT more than usual. But other than that I have no pregnancy symptoms at all?

Has anyone has this as I'm pretty confused….
Be appreciative for all comments :)

Gee only 7 days late and you thought you would get something other than a negative on your tests?

You are aware you have to wait at LEAST 2 weeks after you miss your period before you even start to take tests... or your results will usually result in negative... false or not.

And if you don't take them first thing in the AM the first time you pee that day... you will likely get a negative even if you are.

    Hiya

Thanks for replying! No, I didn't know that you should wait 2 weeks...

I've been asking around to mother's I know and they got a positive soon after their missed period! - but everyone is different I guess? Also, 2 have been PM tests and 1 AM - so thank you for letting me know its best to do AM's :)

    Has anyone experienced my symptoms?

Thanks for your reply smoothy ! :)

Sometimes a positive can result earlier... but not always. The tests are really only effective after two weeks (which means false negatives won't be common)... and at 4 weeks they are as accurate as they ever get... which is actually pretty accurate. False positves are really pretty rare at any time. THey measure a hormone in the urine... and until it is a certain level the test will register negative. The further into pregnancy the more of the hormone you have. The first few weeks its usually to low to register.

This isn't opinion... this is fact.

So, 2 weeks AFTER missed period... Not 4 weeks after ovulation?

    Thanks for your replies.

    Anyone else?

Two weeks after a missed period. The 4 week comment was also based off the missed period.

The only possible way you could know when you ovulate is if you kept a Basal Temprature chart for almost a year. Women as a group aren't consistent as to what day of their cycle they actually ovulate.

I thought (at the time of brown discharge) that it may be implantation/ovulation bleed as that's what you hear of...

Are you female? Are you a mother?

As an obstetric nurse, I can tell you that 7 days does not make a period late, for even the most regular of women. We will not test until 2 weeks or later, and most first appointments aren't until around week 10-13.

Why you ask? That is because at least one time in every woman's life there is a late and/or missed period. We do not go by symptoms alone.

Implantation bleeding is a highly controversial subject. Look at it this way, how could something microscopic, smaller than a pencil dot, cause bleeding? I'm only saying this in layman's terms, if you want the whole story, read over this...

IMPLANTATION BLEEDING- Many women believe that when trying to conceive that they experience IMPLANTATION BLEEDING. It is important to understand that this is not as common as we all would like to believe. So, prior to asking “is this implantation bleeding” please read on.

I know it would be nice for those of us who are trying to conceive to be able to have a little dark discharge or a little spotting to tell us that we are pregnant, unfortunately that is not always the case. As a woman who is trying to get pregnant you probably know your cycles. Well, I would like to go in depth a little about how this works so that you understand not only when you ovulate, the medical terms, as well as the function of each, and what is actually happening to your body during this time.

Ovulation – Ovulation begins within the ovaries. The ovary is the organ that produces the egg cells as well as some of the female sex hormones.

Conception – Conception occurs when the sperm and the egg meet in the fallopian tube. Approx 30 hours later the fertilized egg begins to divide. This process takes about 3 days. On about day 6 of conception the fertilized egg begins to attach to the uterus. This is the process called implantation. Implantation is complete during the 2nd week after fertilization. Once implantation is complete your body begins to release a hormome commonly called hCG.
Occasionally, the developing mass of cells implants in tissues outside the uterus, for instance, an ovary, the cervix, or an organ in the abdominal cavity. This result is called an ectopic pregnancy. If a fertilized egg implants within the uterine tube, it is called a tubal pregnancy . A tubal pregnancy is dangerous to a pregnant woman and the developing offspring because the tube usually ruptures as the embryo (baby) enlarges and is accompanied by severe pain and heavy abdominal bleeding. Treatment for this is prompt surgical removal of the embryo and repair or removal of the damaged uterine tube.

It is important to know that pregnancy is different for EVERY woman and EVERY pregnancy. No 2 women or no 2 pregnancies will be exactly alike.

IMPLANTATION BLEEDING STUDY- According to a study done by the University of North Carolina, done in 2003 “Little is known about the occurrence and patterns of vaginal bleeding during the earliest stages of pregnancy. We explore this in a prospective study of early pregnancy.”

A total of 221 women were studied and they kept a daily diary along with providing urine samples while trying to become pregnant. Out of these 221 women 151 became clinically pregnant. Clinically pregnant means that the pregnancy lasted 6 or more weeks past their last monthly period. A total of 14 women reported reported at least one day of bleeding during the first 8 weeks. Out of these 14 women, 12 women delivered babies.

According to this study, the University found no supportive information that implantation causes bleeding. The conclusion to the study is that early bleeding in clinical pregnancies is NOT to be mistaken for LMP (last monthly period).

The information I have given you comes from Medscape.com. Please feel free to research there, but you must have an account to view the entire article

Pregnancy tests are more accurate using first morning urine as that is when the HCG hormone is most concentrated. You see, by drinking fluids and urinating throughout the day, you are diluting the concentrate of HCG, thus causing a higher risk of a false negative. A HPT is designed to be used (forget the directions on the box, this is coming from a medical professional) the minute you wake up, before eating or drinking anything.

When I conceived my son, 4 years ago, I tested positive after just a few days of missing my period. But there was also no doubt in my mind that I was pregnant because we were not using ANY form of birth control and he did his business inside me.

My very first symptom was no period. Then I didn't show any other symptoms until my 2nd month of pregnancy. I was not peeing more frequently until my 3rd trimester. I don't remember any abnormal discharge during my pregnancy.

Other than your missed period, I think that it is too early for symptoms if you are pregnant.

You can make an appointment with your doctor and get a blood test done. The blood test are far more accurate. Or you can wait another week and take another HPT.

Well.. its going to take a good while with a Basal temprature chart for you to have your ovulation days pinpointed. While some women ovulate on a fairly predictible schedule (as in x number of days after the period) a good many don't. And this is one of the few ways to find out.

But yet... seen 7 days late a lot... even 10 days once... 2, 3 or 4 is really pretty common.

Hi. I am experiencing the same thing. However I have been pregnant before and took a test on the 7th day and got a positive test. I miscarried about 9 weeks after that but it happens. That was a year ago. Today is my 7 th day and I took a test and got a negative. I have been having the same symptoms as u. I know it's a few months out that you posted on here so what's the news on your end?
