    Shower drain foundation
My toe broke through the tile in the shower near the drain. After much demolition, I find an area approx 18" in diameter that looks like sand or dirt all the way through the mortar drain pan and into the foundation. I don't know if it goes all the way through the foundation but... should the foundation be solid around and up to the shower drain? And shouldn't the drain pan be solid around the same area?
