Dual zone A/C not working properly
    Hello

We moved into our new home (house was built in 2000) last spring and we had our AC serviced because the temp was not going down in our home when the AC was on. We have a 3 zone unit, one upstairs one downstairs and one in a bonus room above the garage. The one above the garage is never turned on because we don't use that room.

The problem we had is when the AC was running upstairs and downstairs and the temperature for both upstairs and downstairs does not drop. Yesterday both upstairs and downstairs air temp was at 76, so I dropped both upstairs and downstairs thermostats to 71. Neither of them dropped below 75 and I ran the ac for 5 hrs.
When we had this serviced last year for the same problem, the AC guy add freon and said try not to run them at the same time. So what the heck is point of having dual zone if I can't use them?

So I really don't want to pay another guy to come out, pay him again for the same thing.

Does anyone have a solution or a cause for this?

    Thanks

    Chris

I have a solution but you aren't going to like it. Rip out the zoned system & install separate systems for each zone. In the 25+ years I've been in the trade, I've NEVER seen a zoned system which worked well.
