How do I remove a glued PVC pipe from a cast iron pipe drain in my bathroom?
I have a very old house and have a cast iron pipe as the largest part of my waste drain in the bathroom. I want to place my toilet in a different area of the bathroom. If I want to do this, I have to remove the pvc elbo that is connected into the cast iron pipe. Is there an easy way to remove this piece of pvc without damaging the cast iron pipe? I cannot cut and splice in another area of the pipe due to beams and such so that is out of the question. Any suggestions to remove the pvc from the cast iron so that I can start over again?

You've told us except how the PVC was joined to the cast iron. Until we know we can't help. Back to you, Tom.

The PVC is attached to cast iron pipe either by thread, coupling or pressure ring. If thread, then simply unscrew it. If coupling than loosen screw on coupling and remove PVC pipe. If pressure ring than again - and depending what kind / brand of drain you have - loosen nut(s) around the perimeter and remove PVC pipe.

If possible, post clear photos of your drain, from above and under. That way we don't have to guess

    Back to you / Milo
