I've fed my cat and dog the recalled food
I've been feeding my three cats a pouch of wet food every morning and same goes with my dog, I just found out last night on the news that I have been feeding them recalled pet food, I went on the website and sure enouph the pet food I have in my pantry is recalled.
The pet store won't refund/exchange my pet food even thou I have the receipts, they say the recall hasn't effected western canada, which is a lie I think, because why was my local news sending out the warning.
So far my pets seem okay, my littlest cat is starting to show signs of a swollen belly and doesn't play as much. I'm freaking out, I called the petfood company and they said to contact my Vet, I called my vet and he said that I could pay 95bucks per a pet for a blood test. What is going on, is the company going to pay for that?
VERY FRUSTRATED, is anybody else in my shoes?

Jessyfay, I have not had this happen to me but I have been watching the story closely. This whole situation is starting to create massive lawsuits all over the place. So far, earllier today, 250 pets have died from this and they expect it to be much higher when all is over.

From what I have been reading, it has effected Canada as well as the U.S. My suggestion to you would be to bring all your animals in for testing. If any of them come up positive, you have your proof right there. Your vet can give you a statement to that effect and with your receipts, you should be able to get your refund.

As far as getting the manufacturer to pay for the blood tests, you will probably have to file a lawsuit. You can do this separately or part of a class action suit. I think it is a safe guess that there will be a lawyer out there that will take this case on in a class lawsuit action. His fee would be on a contigency basis so there won't be a charge for his services. However, this will take a long time to resolve and you will probably be getting paid a portion of the settlement payout.

The main concern here is to get your pets tested as soon as possible, and if they have been affected, they need to be treated immediately. All the costs for this will be included as part of your lawsuit, if that is the route you choose to go.
