    Carpet for my stairs
I was advised to carpet my stairs for safety. I don't know which texture would help keep me from falling or tripping.

Is there a carpet for stairs that would help to keep me from slipping?

All carpets can be used on stairs, it depends on your décor.
Are you carpeting the whole step or just a runner?

If not installed correctly will be more of a hazard then the bare wood.

A very good answer but I got a little backlash from my daughter-in-law who said that in the even that I do slip on the stairs, a thick carpet will cushion the fall.Personally I like to go up and down stairs, always holding on to the rail, in my bare feel.Just a country (senior) girl at heart. Thanks for your ideas.

Carpeting may not be the best solution here even if it was to "cushion the fall"... idea is to prevent the fall to begin with! Instead, if you and/or your loved ones are concerned about slips I would think an ANTI. SLIP STAIR TREAD (or tape) would be a better solution.

Check out these links for more info.:

There are many other designs available at most home improvement stores or flooring supply stores... ;)

Anti. Skid paint can also be used for this application if you don't mind having the stairs painted!

Don't know your age or physical condition, but if that is the cause of your daughter-in-law's request, think about a stair chair.
