    Re-occurring nightmares
I am 12 and over the last few nights have had the scariest reoccurring nightmare ever, and I am not normally a scaredy cat. First, me and mom are driving on a road when we see a car driving tilted on its two left wheels. Suddenly a mini plane swoops in and carries the car. It starts to come down a few yards in front of where we were going to be when it hits. She slows down to give it some space to explode. " better give it a few miles" I said in warning. It explodes. I am now out of the car and running for my life. Then I am running in my basement and up the basement stairs. With the explosion still following me. Once I am in my foyer, the explosion catches me and I die in it. Then, I hear a vacuum as my soul is sucked out of my body to heaven.
Then I wake up, not screaming, but thinking I'm screaming. It sounds silly. I was just wondering why this is or how to get rid of it.

Stop being worried about it, and try to think less of it. Consider how silly the dream is, Also is there some other stress in your life ?

My dads deployed and my sister got the honor I have wanted for years. My brother, 9 keeps having nervous meltdowns and breaking things. My mom thinks she may be at the end of her rope and my eldest brother has asbergers syndrome and ADHD. He has also had breakdowns. Things are almost cool with my sister. We are solely responsible for our four year old brother.

Can you talk to someone at school or a clergyperson or an adult you trust about your living situation?

No one can change an honor that your sister got that you think should have been yours. Someone can help your mother hold it together and help everyone cope with your brother's limitations.

Your father is deployed in spite of the chaos at home?

I'm studying psychology at university, so I only know a little about dreams at the moment. But basically there are two things you can do to try and prevent them
    1. stop thinking about it, the more you think about it, the more it gets wired into your brain and the more you are likely to have the same dream over and over again
    2. dreams can say a lot about your mental state of mind, and this particular dream is suggesting that something is wrong and that you are afraid/running away from something. You should think about what that something may be and try to resolve it. Then you may find that the dreams stop :)
