    Salary in arrears
    Hi,
I am a UK citizen, working in the UK. I have just left a job, where my contract stated I was paid a month in arrears. However, the previous employer believes that he has paid me what they owe and says I wasn't paid in arrears.

What is the position I am in? Should I be able to claim this money, and how?

The only problem I can see is that to begin with my contract was part time, which advanced to full time later. However, my contract wasn't updated to include the full time salary, but even so, I imagine I should be entitled to at least the monthly amount as stated in the contract?

    Any advice is most appreciated,
    LL

Is there a Labour board that over sees such differences? If so, take it to them. Otherwise you should see a solicitor to review the contract.

    Hi,
Thanks for the rapid response. It's a small private company so I don't believe there is any board to oversee matters. If so is solicitor my best option?

Not sure how things work in merrie Olde England but in the US doesn't matter the size of the company. The state department of labor would look into it.
