    Going back to platinum.
About 3 weeks ago I dyed my platinum blonde locks red (sad sad I know):(
... I used a strawberry blonde semi-permanent to give it a base then used a darker shade overtop... the colour turned out bright orange, so I went to a drug store and a cosmetician helped me out.
I told her I wanted a darker colour, she said since I already stained my hair I might as well choose a permanent red to maintain the colour. I went home and dyed it.
I wasn't a fan of the outcome... So I've been using Head & Shoulders, it's been fading the colour quite well.

    Now here is my question...
My hair is in relatively good condition -- I've been dying for awhile but deep condition often and take good care of it
I want to get back to platinum at some point... I've had so many different answers and different advice that I'm not sure what to follow.
I am willing to wait a few weeks till I take action, but once I've waited what should I do?
Should I get a hairdresser to strip the colour?. if so what would the probable outcome be?
OR should I get some highlights?? I would appreciate any expert opinions or people who have been through a similar situation...

... anyway... Thanks for the help... I'm kind of in a rut!! The colour is fading well, but since I've stained my hair I'm scared it will go really orange once it's stripped.

In order to go from red to platinum blonde, it requires a double process, bleaching and toner. You would have to bleach your hair pass the yellow stage and then apply a toner. Hair bleaching is a difficult process and should only be attempted by a professionally. I definitely recommend that you let a hairstylist color your hair for you.
