    Shower stall replacement
    I have a one piece fiberglass shower stall that I want to remove and replace. The drain pipe is PVC with a metal flange and some lead, how do I remove it?

    It isn't very often we have to pour a lead joint to a PVC raiser as once it's poured we have to pour cold water on the joint to prevent the molten lead from burning through the PVC. But some times we have no choice.
    Does the metal flange screw into a metal housing that is connected to the PVC raiser with a lead joint or is the drain one piece with the shower base?
    Removing a lead joint from PVC is a lot more touchy then taking out a cast iron one. With PVC you can't use heat. Get back to me with the details about how the flange is constructed and if you plan on keeping the shower stall intact, (I may ask you to cut it up so the drain remains easier to work on.
