    First DUI and on probation
    I just got my first DUI and on probation for 3years. Can I still go to the bar and drink but not drive? Or just stay at home and drink?

    No offense but I think you missed the point. You may have a drinking problem. Didn't the court require you to go to AA? Go to the meetings.

    Now in regards to your question. In the privacy or your home you can drink. Who will know? Take a look at the stipulation of the probation. If it states you are not to be in a bar or alcohol related venue and you are drunk, you can be breaking probation. The depending on the state you are in, you can do jail time.

    Not everybody has the same rules. You have specific rules for YOUR probation. I don't know what they are. I'll bet you signed something telling you exactly what they are. However, if you can't find it, call the probation department and ask your PO.

    It would be my bet that you can't drink at all - it doesn't matter where.
