    My w2 shows less wages than medicare wages
    Why is my wages $47729 and my medicare wages $61910

    Maybe you have a 401k? It's not counted in your wages, but is counted in SS and Medicare wages.

    The 401K is your most likely culprit, but other pre-tax deductions (403b, FSA, etc). Could also explain it.
