My cartilage piercings are red and hurting
Hi. I have 3 helix piercings on my right ear around the middle area. I got them done about 17 days ago and they were fine until now, but from this morning they started to hurt and are a bit reddish and I feel they're swelling. Is this normal? Should I be worried?

What really freaks me out is that I used to have 2 helix piercings on my left ear too which were done with a gun and they got a severe infection a week after piercing, so I'm worried something similar will happen...

    Help!

    Thank you :)

I'm getting my cartilage pierced tomorrow and I'm a bit anxious. A friend of mine told me they deliberately miss the cartilage and just go through the fleshy-skin part above the cartilage... contrary to what I've heard. Is she right or not and where exactly does the piercing go through?
