I was accused of shoplifting last night at Kohls . My daughter and I were shopping for my sons girlfriend and her and I for our significant others. I moved the back off the necklace to see how long and the type of clasp since it was for a little girl. I then placed it in the cart that Kohls has which is a huge giant black basket type cart. I also had my purse hanging on the cart. My daughter and I continued to shop I found a pair of jeans and some shirts and she purchased some earrings. I put the shirts on the handle of the cart not the inside and I went to the cashier to ring up. I have 2 gift cards for Kohls , another reason I decided to shop here... I paid for the shirts and jeans and totally forgot about the necklace. I didn't even get out of the door and a guy with a hat stopped me. I feel horribe about this and would never steal anything. I have never done anything wrong! I am a christian woman and am very upset about this. The security man was very rude. He tresspassed me and my daughter from the store. No big deal I literally have never shopped at Kohls. Just thought I would use a gift certificate that I had. The police officer came and spoke to my daughter and was really surprised the secrutiy man was pressing charges. What can I expect to happen in court I have a court date in March. This is such an unbelievable experince. Thank You Tony

You'll either enter a guilty or an innocent plea and undoubtedly will get a fine, a ban from Kohls, possibly probation... and a warning not to shoplift again.

I'm amazed by your flippant attitude - no big deal because you never shop at Kohls anyway? And, yes, I'm sure the security officer waS rude. He thought you were stealing from a store he's paid to protect. I'm also surprised that the Police didn't think you should be arrested. In my area Kohls and Walmart charge everyone - there are no exceptions.

You will have an opportunity to explain your version of events to the Judge. The Judge will or will not believe you.

I shop at Kohls. I like Kohls. I also know that the price and security device are on the card which you removed in order to measure the length of the necklace. Once you took off that backing how did you expect the casher to scan the merchandise?
