Evicting a child 19 yrs old
My daughter has alwayed blamed everyone for her problem. She has destroyed my house many time & threaten me & her sisters many times with harm. I have tried many counceling programs through out her 19 yrs. I feel I have done all I can & she has been given many chances, it's time for her to go. She works but blows all her money. What can I do? I'm at my wits end!

You treat her exactly like a paying tenant.

You have her served with 30 day vacate notice... according to your local laws... 2 weeks in Florida, 60 days in parts of California... 30 days in most of the rest of the country.

Once she turns 18.. she is legally a tenant in YOUR house... and you can evict her just like any other tenant on a month to month lease... (money never has to change hands).

If she still refuses to leave.. you file in court to have the eviction enforced... when you win... the Sheriffs will put her and her stuff out on the sidewalk.. and only THEN you can and should change your locks.

Or give her some money if she leaves by a certain date (payable only after the last of her stuff is gone.) Then you can change the locks because then she left on her own.

What you can not do is simply throw her stuff out and change the locks... that would be illegal.

Or the next time she threatens you, or anyone else... or trashes your house.. don't hesitate to call the police... you can inquire about a protective order blocking her from returning at that point.

Its legally YOUR house... she is only a resident in it.

You can first just order her out and tell her to leave, legally she does not have to, but she may ?
If not, you just evict her like you would anyone, give her a written notice to move, and if she does not, file for eviction in court.
If she starts to destroy anything again, call the police and have her arrested
