Why can't I get hot water in one of my sinks?
I can't get hot water in my kitchen sink, only lukewarm. I have a delta single handle faucet. My husband has taken it apart and replaced some pieces, but still no hot water.
The problem has been going on for a while. It has been gradual and kept coming up with reasons for the problem. Husband has done all he know to do. Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi Phaas67
Try closing the cold water shut off valve under the sink to the off position. Then, see how hot water is at the faucet (give it a minute to get hot water flowing good). If hot water shows up no problem then the mixing cartridge of the delta faucet should be replaced... should resolve the issue.
The part may even be under warranty if you contact Delta, OK? Click on this link:

Try these things and post back with your results.
Thanks...

Sounds like there is a cross connection (some mixing valve has failed) in the home.
Start by turning off a cold water shut off at every single handled faucet in the house and then try the kitchen faucet again. Don't forget to shut the cold water off at the washing machine if it has a single lever valve... ;)
If that fails to produce the cross connection then, most likely, the issue will be at one of your single handle tub/shower valves, but for now, try isolating as presented above and then post back with results. I'm in and out all night!

There is a single handled shower in a bathroom directly above the kitchen sink, and just found that if I run the hot water slowly at the shower, I get hotter water at the kitchen sink? What does that mean? There is no shut off valve for the shower, how can I work on it if that is the issue?
Thanks

Did you test all the other single lever faucets first? If not, you need to do that first. If that fails to show anything specific then that shower valve suggests that the shower valve cartridge/balancing spool needs to be replaced... not a tough job, really! Here, you would need to shut off the main water supply to the house to be able to work on the valve.
You have to eliminate the other single handle faucets (including washing machine if it has a single lever) first, so we can be sure the shower valve is the culprit, OK?
Test that and then, if the shower valve is the only valve that increases hot water to the faucet, let me know the name brand on the shower valve?

The showers have older Delta faucets ( 20 + years old ) with a single knob vs a lever to adjust the water. Husband says not possible to turn off the cold water at the shower, but when we run only hot water in the showers upstairs they both make the kitchen faucet water able to run hot water.
Thanks
