    What thermostat do I need?
I have an old thermostat in a spare bedroom that has:

    W - White
    O - Orange
    G - Green
    R - Red
    C - Cyan
    Y - Yellow

Each wire is hooked up. I don't know if I have a 2 stage, 1 stage, heatpump, etc. I just want a programmable thermostat. Any ideas?

The fact you have a wire connected to O, I'd say you have a heat pump. The W wire indicates there is electric heat in it as well. I do not recommend programables with a heat pump unless you get one of the high dollar stats with an outdoor sensor which "learns" how long it will take to get to the set temperature based on indoor & outdoor temps. My experience with programables & heat pumps is they usually end up costing you more to operate the heat pump than they save. Bottom line: stick with what you have.
