House built in 1949 has plumbing issues effecting kitchen sink, bath tub and washing
Water is still backing up in kitchen sink and bathtub when washing machine drains. Have used drain cleaner in tub, kitchen and bathroom sinks. The house was built in '49. Any recommendations?

Obviously you have a clog. Likely cast iron drain line, right? If nothing else is backing up the clog is limited to a branch drain line, look for clean out or run a rod down from where the washer drain is connected, stop with the chemicals and run a few small loads to clear the chemicals first before you rod

    Hi Evrepp58

As Ballengerb1 suggested, you probably have cast iron pipes. If this is the case, then I have to recommend that you bring in the heavy guns here (professional plumber or drain cleaner) and have them work the drain lines clear for you.

Here, in my experience, when you get cast iron pipes (usually under a concrete slab) from '49 then you have a serious build-up of sediment and that can only really be cleared long-term by a pro. These guys need to use a small cutter head and then a larger cutter head as well as hot water to wash the drain as they clear the drain for best results! This is a job that can get tricky, but if handled right the result can usually allow the existing pipes to last for years to come!

    Glad to discuss...
