    How old are you?

How do you know he is really a police officer?

    This smells like a scam.

How do you know for sure he is police? (This is important.)

No, police would not come after you for a credit card problem.

Did you misuse a card at a store?

Credit cards now have a built-in check feature, so the cashier would know as soon as he swiped the card or tried to use it in his register that your card had a problem. If that had been the case, you could use a different card or ask to speak to the manager.

Seems to me like he was using a card that wasn't his but he doesn't want to come out and say it.

No they don't come after you first if this is still an investigation.

My question is how they have your phone number, seldom do police call you and ask you to come in, unless you have a record, are already known to the police.

But you may refuse to go in, that is often my option, since I would never answer any way.
If I did go in or was forced to go in, I would not answer any questions, not make any statements, without talking with an attorney and having him present at questioning
