    John the Baptist, Elijah?
Just was reading/studying in my bible on lunch break and came to Matthew 17: 1-11 when Jesus takes Peter, James and John up to the mountain and transfigures. Later telling them after questioning Elijah's coming, that he has already came and suffered same as the Son of Man will. Immediately the disciples say he was talking about John the Baptist. Still a rookie in my studies and know I should research as much as I read to comprehend better but was curious as roof Elijah is John the Baptist? Googled it a few didn't want to wwaste anyone's time on such a question but came across many answers saying yes, no and some saying Jesus didn't mean it literally but more so figuratively. Any for sure answer? Always wondered who Elijah was and know the old testament blueprints a lot of the new and this would provide a bit of clarity. Thanks!
