I purchased a townhouse that has a rough in for a toilet in the basement and also wish to add a sink. There is a place for the toilet but there is only one pipe "approx 2" going from floor to sealing with the word vent written on it. Can I tap into that to use for the drain for the sink? Or do I have to have a separate pipe and have to cut into the floor and tap into the drain system? Thank you. jay20911

Hi Jay

If you see only one 2" pipe then WET VENTING is allowed in your area and you can cut into that 2" pipe for your sink... ;)

You want to cut the sanitary tee fitting (see image) into the 2" pipe so that when you pitch the sink drain at 1/4" pitch per foot of pipe a 90 degree elbow fitting will stick out of the wall under the sink at about 18" to the center of the elbow off the finished floor.
