I filled out a paper that said I will drop child support if my ex sign's off on our son. The papers state that he will never have contact with me or my son again. He signed it, and I signed it. Will this hold up in court? Is it legal?

No, he can not merely get rid of his child support obligation, he can give up his custody and visitation, but the courts because if the child or you were to need welfare or other government assistance has the right to go after the father to be paid back in most areas.

The only way the father can normally get out of child support is if the person with the child is remarried and that new spouse wants to adopt.

It basically is not worth the paper and time it took to sign it.

The child support is something for the welfare of the child also and as such the state has a obligation to be sure the best interest of the child is protected.

You would have to try and file this as a motion in court to make it binding at all.
