    Windows Piracy
    My Operating System is Windows XP Professional but I think it's a pirated software. What are the disadvantages of a pirated Windows XP? Is this the reason why Warcraft III: Frozen Throne won't work? (see my other question).
    PS: It had worked before I patched it.:confused: :mad:
    BTW: I am not sure it is pirated.

    You can go on the Microsoft Genuine Advantage website, and it will run a diagnostic that will tell you if your XP is pirated or legit.

    First of all, This post begs the question... How can you not know if it's a legit version?
    Or you bought one or you didn't! If someone else installed it, and chose to install a pirated version instead, they should tell you.
    One thing is certain, M$ releases "service Patches"(XP) for more than one reason. SP1,SP1a,SP2... progressively fixes holes that crackers use, as well as discouraging the piracy by making the end user pay for their indiscretions. Yup... They basically infect the OS with all kinds of bugs so it becomes such a pain to you... that It'll make you go out and get another fresh pirated copy that you won't patch!
    There is always a chance that your game is at fault as well.

    Pardon the cynicism but if Bill'$ 50B+ fortune doesn't make you go WOW... Maybe a fresh pirated version of Vista will. A test drive... of sorts.
