    Snowblower shearpin
    Will it affect anything if I use a grade 2 bolt in place of the shear pin on the auger

    While this is not recommended, it is generally accpeted as a substitute if the correct shear pins are no longer available. As long as you go with Grade 2.

    You can use a bolt... just be sure it is something that will break when needed... I have used standard bolts to replace pins for years... candidly most are not as strong as a sheer pin so you should be OK... be sure to take spark plug cap off when changing this.

    Thanks for your advice dbooth at the time I had asked this question we were expecting snow the next day and I had forgot about getting new shear pins so I did use a grade 2 bolt and it worked fine .
