    If you aren't on the lease you are renting from the person who is on the lease and that person is your landlord.

    What is your agreement with that person and what State?

    The amount of notice a landlord must give you depends on your State and the reason they are terminating your tenancy. Whether you are on the lease most likely doesn't matter.
