What makes my Blower Motor on my furnace overheat?
My scenario: I set the thermostat to 55 and leave for three days. I return and put it up to 65. The furnace works for a while then shuts down. I am told the blower motor needs to be replaces AND you need more Returns and Air Flow into the furnace. Is this true?
My house is from 1959 and the Return is 10" wide. The furnace is 2 years old (Comfort Aire 80%), this is the third year running it. He said I should widen the return into the furnace to 20" and need to add a return for more air into the unit.
Is he telling the truth? Does the air intake cause a motor to over heat?

Also NOTE: It DOES COME BACK ON after a while, take a break, then starts up again. It is not the thermostat.

Lack of return air can most certainly make a furnace overheat.
