Root canaled canine tooth that is infected
I had a root canal about 1 & 1/2 yrs ago. Couldn't afford a crown. There was approx 80 % of my tooth remaining. (My guess) Now it is loose at the gum line. People say its badly abscessed. I can taste a nasty taste on my mouth. I don't have Dental ins. It hurts. It is really loose. Can't even close my mouth w/ teeth together. I know I need some type of a dentist. 1st question.. What type of dentist? 2nd question.. What are the risks of not getting antibiotics when it is clearly infected? Started looking on web... Scary info.. Says teeth infections untreated may kill you. I have tried County clinics. No luck with ANY free clinics. I have no money. It's a matter of putting a roof over my daughters head and food. Or go to Dentist? Do I have to go? Help?

Go to the ER and ask for help there. A social worker will figure out something with Medicaid/public aid, depending on your income, and find an affordable dentist for you. You don't want to risk an infection getting into your entire system.

What will happen if infection goes to entire body? Kind of a dumb question! But.. I don't want to go to ER for a sore tooth. That is why our health insurance is so high. People go and never pay

How about a dental school? Major universities with dental programs would have a low cost dental clinic run by dental students. They are monitored by dentists and are usually very reasonable.

You've paid your dues all these years (taxes), so why not collect a bit on that? It might save you from a worse and more expensive health problem.
Our chiropractic college has a clinic that I went to for years when we had no money, and students (overseen by professor-chiropractors) worked on me. The same is true of dental schools.
