What\'s wrong with my dog
I have an 8 year old Samoyed she's normally very playful and loves her food but the last week she's been getting worse and worse, she won't eat for me I've tried eveything she's been very stiff and finding it hard to walk and when she does she's walking into things, I woke up thismorning and her legs are totally gone, I had her groomed last week and it's like this since then I brought her to the vet straight after but she just told me that she was tired from being groomed gave her an injection and tablets for a skin infection I don't know what to do?

It could be that she's getting old. Some dogs age faster than others. If that's the case, then she is in pain and she is suffering, and it might be best to put her down. If she has completely stopped walking and eating then you know it's age.

8 years old is not the end of the road for Samoyeds. A second opinion at another vet is in order.

querize, to be blunt you have not been giving very good answers. Possibly consider researching before just randomly posting.

I think the OP needs to go to a different vet. I know I wouldn't be satisfied with that answer.
She could be in pain.. or something else could be happening. Arthritic pain doesn't just appear, its gradual.

Just to let you know I've had her down in the vet today she's been taken into hospital nothing to do with her age she has very high glucose in her blood, not sure if you have a dog yourself but its not easy to just put a dog down she's part of my family so I'd rather do anything I can to help make her better!!

I'm so glad that you didn't take the advice of the first poster. Sadly we can't control all the advice given on this site, and anyone that's a member can answer any question, so you don't always get expert, or even simply logical advice.
I'm so glad that you went back to the vet. I really hope everything goes well and that she's feeling better soon.
Please keep us posted on her progress, and good luck to you and your fur baby.

Hi all
Thanks for the reply's unfortunately I got a phone call from the hospital yesterday to say Kyla had passed away, gutted, she died from Diabetic ketoacidosis I brought her to the vet twice in the last 2 months with the same problem and the first time I was told she had a kidney infection second time I was told she was tired and overheated from being groomed, can I just advise if your dog starts drinking a lot more water and peeing a lot more just ask the vet to check the dog for diabetes because once it goes too far without being treated it very hard to do anything for the dog.

Sorry to hear that Redmo. Yes severe diabetes is a killer for humans and canines, and even felines. Kidney failure is why humans go on dialysis, extending their lives in an unpleasant way. Can you imagine if we did that for our pets as well. No.
Yes, excessive drinking, urinating are signs of diabetes.

I'm so sorry Redmo. You did all you could, and I know that your dog had a great life with you. I know how hard it is to lose a fur baby, they're not just pets, they're a part of the family. Sadly they just don't live as long as we do, so it's inevitable to lose a fur baby, but the love you have for them while they're with you, is definitely worth the pain of losing them. I'm sure your life was better for having her in your life. I know her life was better for having you.
So sorry for your loss.
