    Boyfriend Joining the Marines
My boyfriend and I have been together for two years, and he recently told me he wants to join the Marines. I am fully supporting him in this decision, I am just worried that it will take its toll on our relationship. We are in a long distance relationship already, but this will be the furthest we have ever been apart. We try to skype once a week, and talk on the phone every day. I love writing letters, and so does he. So, it works out. I just am worried, you know?

I really cannot imagine my life without him, he makes me so incredibly happy. I just want to know how to make it through the times without him there. He is my go-to guy.

I have talked to him about it, and he understands where I am coming from. I do not want to hold him back from this, at all. I just want him to be happy.

Please, give me all the advice that you can!

Also, he is 20 and I am 19.
We meet my junior year of high school, so his senior year!

    Thank you!

He will change during Marine basic training, and he will be out of contact for days or even a week at a time. He will need you to write him letters every day if possible, makes being there easier.

And you will need to understand that he won't be able to write or call nearly as much as you, even after basic training. So you need to trust him when he says he loves you, when he can.

Have you thought about joining the military? Are you happy with what you are doing for a career?

Just remember if you don't hear from him for one, two, maybe even three weeks, it is because they control every minute of his life. He will not have his cell phone with him, and they often will want to mold him into having a Marine way of thinking. So expect him to have lots of extra self confidence, believe that the Corp is the most important thing in his life above all else
