I'm 11 and all my friends are dating but my parents won't let me date.Do you think it's OK for a 11 year old girl to date??

You are too young to date or have a boyfriend, most definitely. However, you are at a good age to start making friendships with groups of friends which include boys. You are too young in my opinion to go anywhere like a mall or movie without an adult, for your own safety. While you may not make bad decisions or do anything irresponsible, at 11, you are vulnerable to a larger more powerful adult to take advantage of you or hurt you and while most people in the world are great, there are enough who are disordered and sick in their thinking and actions, that your parents are right to supervise and protect you until you are older.. So, part of the reason you're too young to date is that you're too young to go anywhere alone with a boy, which would be a date.

I think you are at a good age to work at building friendships with both boys and girls at school. I would say when you are in 7th and 8th grade would be a good time to start including boys when you go places with groups of kids, like roller skating or afternoon movies and maybe including boys in your birthday party. I do not think dating is appropriate until high school.

As for "all your other friends" - if they are dating at 11, either their parents don't know about it or their parents are not being very good parents. Be glad yours care enough to look out for you.

The media has glorified romantic relationships so children way too young to emotionally deal with them are trying to grow up too soon. You are still a child, enjoy your childhood. Your parents are right to try and keep you in childhood as long as possible.

Whenever I hear something like "all my friend are..." it tells me you have too few friends or the wrong kind.

That is too young to date. What your friends do doesn't mean it's always right. Having a relationship is a VERY serious thing. Having a relationship is a step towards adulthood, and you not ready for that. I wasn't ready and I started dating when I was between 15 and 16. Just be a kid! :D HAVE FUN WHEN YOU CAN. But don't forget to do your school work also. :)

Personally I'm 12 and I isn't going to date no time soon.AND YES 11 IS TO YOUNG.I don't think your friends boyfriend are going to get married to them.I think its better to save the heart break and deppresion.My dad doesn't even really want my 17 year old sister getting a boyfriend.But the rule is in my house once your 18 you can do whatever you want.Now I know you can't control your feelings for boys but save the heartbreak.AND BE PICKY WHEN YOU DO START DATING.You don't want someone that only wants you for your body.LEARNED ALL THIS FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.
