    Labial Itching
I've had an intensely itchy, slightly red/swollen spot about the size of a dime on the fold between my labia minora and labia majora for the past several years. I'm not sexually active, so I know it's not an STD. I also don't use any vaginal deodorants or anything of the like that could be causing an allergic reaction. I thought that it could be my laundry detergent, but I've changed my detergent several times over the past few years to no avail. What is this painfully itchy nuisance and how can I get rid of it? Thanks!

This has been going on for years?

What has your doctor said about it? Surely you've seen a doctor if this issue has been going on for years.

It has been going on for about 2 years now. Up until May of this year, I had been in college, and had not seen a doctor for some time except for the ones at the health center. Unfortunately, I did not find them to be particularly helpful in this or any other regard. Since graduation, I have not been able to get any time off from my full-time job for a doctor's appointment, except for 2 days to have a necessary - but unrelated - procedure done. Therefore, I have not received any pertinent advice from a doctor on this issue. Furthermore, I don't see myself getting any time off for a doctor's visit for several months, hence my post on this website. Thanks!

I really wish we could help, but you must realize that there's no way to give a diagnosis online. We can guess, like you've been doing, but that won't help you.

If this is a situation that you can't live with, or you fear is dangerous, then you really will have to make the time to see your doctor about it, as he/she is really the only one that can give you a valid diagnosis, and not just a guess.

    Good luck.
