    Consumer protection car lease
Does NV state law require a car dealership to honor a lease contract once the car has been driven off the lot?

It is not that simple, was there fraud in the signing of the lease, was proper payment made, was the party legal to sign the lease. I can think of many reasons a lease can be voided after car is driven off lot.

Tell us the story, this is not a simple yes or no question

We leased the car Mon, Nov 26th. We traded in a car so we could get zero down and the payment we wanted. They called us a week and 2 days later stating that Nissan (the financial institution) turned down the lease but they were willing to sell it to is with a 5.99% interest rate. There was no fraud in signing the lease, they ran our credit before we signed, and although there are problems w/ the credit they knew that before we signed the contract. The salesman even mentioned the mortgage issues but said that everything else was perfect so they were going to 'bump us up' to the 680 Tier of credit so we could get the payment we wanted. I think they made an error and gave us the car without checking with the bank first, and now they're scrambling to get us back in there to fix their mistake. I just want to know if there are any laws protecting us in a lease or if we just have to do what they say, and ultimately pay the higher payment or ask for our trade in back and go elsewhere.

Just to answer my own question- it IS legal. I contacted NV Legal Aide- apparently there is something in the small print on the back of every lease contract and it states that if the dealership's financial inst. Does not approve the lease they have the right to take it back. Luckily they can sell it to you instead (it's a lot harder to get approved for a lease), which actually is the better option.
