Failure to Yield--Kansas (somewhat weird circumstance... )
I am at a four-way with stoplights. There is HEAVY construction going on in the area, and the road directly across from me has been closed for several months. The light went green, I turned left and dropped my kids off at the house. I went back into town to pick up my daughter. I got to the same intersection, same place, etc. and when the light went green, turned left. I saw a car come out of the "road closed" road, but thought it was someone who was confused and couldn't figure out how to get out of the local grocery store parking lot. I was immediately pulled over and cited for failure to yield.

"Did this road just get opened up in the last twenty minutes?" I asked the officer who told me, "Yep."

Keep in mind, please that the "road closed" sign was still up and prominent on said road.

"Can you give me a break?" I asked. "I really didn't know it was open, it's been closed for months. Now that I know it's open, I'll make sure to do the right thing."

No dice. I was even told "Good luck in court, because we have you on camera."

My son took dozens of pictures of the scene. I ddin't see a camera.

Do I have even a prayer of getting out of this in court?

The thing is, you failed to yield to the other car. Even if, as you believed, the other car was coming out of a "closed" road, it was nevertheless moving and therefor you were obligated to yield.
