    Slander in a beauty shop.
My boyfriend was sitting at beauty with his friend. The stylist was talking about his sister. Then he bought my name up to my boyfriend saying I sleep with a marry man. My boyfriend came upset with me. I went to the shop and told the stylist if hear any false statements I was going to sue him for slander. Do I have a case?

Slander lawsuits are costly and hard to prove, and you need evidence of how you were damaged and what it cost. It would be a lot easier and more productive to warn everyone you know that the shop is full of harmful gossip. You could demand a written retraction, and possibly pay a lawyer for a 'lawyer letter,' a short note telling the shop to retract.

. Ok but the stylist/owner told the few people in shop that I sleep with a married man. Not true, and boyfriend/fiance is on 10 right now. I think since I have wittnesses I would have sum type of case. I just want to let him know that's wrong to disclose incorrect information about me as a person.

It is wrong, but to win a case you have to show you were damaged. So lets say you pursue this. You spend upwards of $10,000 (conservative estimate) for a lawyer and court fees. 3-5 years later, you actually get a trial. The judge or jury finds them guilty, but since you can show no monetary damages you get nothing but the satisfaction.

A cease and desist letter on attorney stationary will probably get you the same satisfaction for a lot less cost.

Yes you have a case, and yes most likely if the witness is good, and someone else besides the boyfriend you should win. But it will most likely take several years to get though the court system. And cost at least 5000 to start and normally will be 10 to 15 thousand in attorney fees by the time court is over.

At this point, I see no dollar loss, A upset boyfriend, but if he gets mad over a lie, there is not much trust and relationship anyway
