    Dentist and HIPPA
My coworker gave me the name of her dentist she told he was a great dentist so I called set up an appointment went in he took some x-rays explain to me he was not able to pull my tooth , My coworker called his office asked him how I was and he gave her my information and discussed why he could not pull my tooth, She in turn told my other coworkers what she had discussed with the dentist. I called the Dentist and told him when I walked in his office I became his patient and he had No right to give her or anyone any info about me I did sign HIPPA papers for his office

Yes. It appears there may have been a violation. So, what do you want to know?

Other than chew out the dentist and (maybe) not go back to him, what do you want to happen? You can file a complaint with HIPAA if you want, and wait maybe a year or two, but so far, out of thousands of complaints, the ones they have ruled on have entailed very large violations of electronically delivered information such as by a college, not talking on the phone with a concerned friend. Your dentist might get a reprimand. And.. could she have claimed to be your boss, and what was happening was going to have an effect on your work schedule? An employer should get permission from you to talk directly to a provider, but has a right to information in that it affects your job, so is there a chance you gave that?
Although I understand your feelings, I also would be glad this was just something about a tooth, and not some delicate medical matter or a prescription.
Even if you went to Small Claims for 'damages' you would have a tough time proving what they were and how much they were worth. I don't think a judge would award you anything. HIPAA won't give you damages either. They can suspend a license to practice.
