    w-8 Form
    Hello!
    I just wanted to know:
    What happens after you send out a w-8 from?
    Where do they send the form?
    Is the form just information for IRS?

    A few infos:
    I am a german citizen and I am married to a US citizen we currently live in germany.

    The Form W-8 is maintained on file at the company to which you send it.

    It is NOT submitted to the IRS, but rather is available should the IRS come and ask why the company is not withholding taxes on payments to you.
