    1996 dodge ram quitting issues
My 1996 dodge ram 5.9 lt will quit while driving 55 mpg or any speed, tach will drop and you coast, then suddenly start back up and away we go. Sometimes it will not restart, you coast to the shoulder, give it min and try sometimes it needs 5 min, but will restart eventually. This happens about 20 min after you start it cold once it gets it out of its system, you are good until it cools down again. The air temp doesn't seem to make a difference, 90 degrees or 20 below 0. I have changed plugs/wires/rotor/cap/coil/, and small sensor under the rotor. This has been happening for about 2 years, I'm used to it, but it still sucks. Please help.

The pick-up coil, located inside the distributor, works with the ignition control module to open and close current to the coil. This creates a "type" of alternating current to "step-up" voltage in the coil's secondary circuit. I suspect the control module is failing, which is common on vehicles of this generation.
