    Bring down running mile time?
Hi, I recently started running again and I'm hoping to participate in my high schools track and field team.

I used to run in middle school but haven't since due to knee problems - Osgood Schlatters and something else from dance (we used to have to dance in 2-3 inch heels!)

My knee problems have since mostly ceased (and when they do flare up I can wear a knee brace and it helps a lot.)

Either way, my mile time is 15.02 minutes and I'd really like to bring that down, maybe to at least 10?

Any ideas as to how I can bring that down?

Currently I plan to run 1 mile a day this week to help get back in shape then increase to 2-3 miles, etc. I'd also like to be able to nonstop run at least 3 or 4 miles by track season.

    Thanks!

Glass, we are not the end and be all of answering questions. This is question is just about five you have asked about your physical well being. This is your own issue, questions you have to ask yourself; absolute discipline is my own answer.

The only question I was really looking to be answered was tips on how to bring down a mile time. Everything else was just details. Thank you either way though.

Run faster and bring down your mile time. Does that make sense. Either way, there is no way anyone could answer your question. Thank you for your time; we are volunteers here, glass, with other issues on our plate, like full time jobs which includes a lot of discilpline; so the faster you learn that the better.

Discipline is pushing yourself to the limit until you can't push anymore.

Okay, I appreciate your help - I understand - I was just hoping for some friendly tips as I am extremely out of shape. I'm currently trying, but after not running for so long due to physical problems it's not as easy as it sounds. Thanks for taking time out of your life with a full time job and other issues though to volunteer here.

The problem here is most OPs don't bother to explain the whole issue, glass; o why didn't you put forth the whole picture of you not being in shape. It has nothing to do with me explaing where I am coming from, it is you not knowing your limitations for the shape you are in.

So don't put it back on me, okay, because I really don't see any expert coming forth with advise for you except me, so go figure.

Just get your butt of the chair and away from your computer and do it, okay.

All right - all right. I wasn't looking to upset you, or put any blame on you for the fact that I'm extremely out of shape, and I did say I appreciate your help didn't I? If not, I appreciate your help.

    I have been, thank you.

No problem, glass, I don't care one way or another, case is closed for me; just post something else along the same vane, sit on you but and hope the answer is satisfactory to you.
