    Jr Cost Accountant needs guidance
    Hello,
About 8 months ago I landed a job as a Jr cost accountant. I have just graduated college with a finance degree had been working as an AP clerk for about 4 years so I thought this new job would be a more challeging role and the pay was also better so I took. At the beginning I felt very inadequate for this job. I figure it was just the beginning and that later with training, things would get easy. Well it's being about 8 months and I still feel the same way about it. The only training I had was on how to use our ERP system. So I decided to enroll back into school and take a cost accounting class to help me understand better my job.
The biggest things I dislike about this job is having to ask my boss for things to do. I've always been the kind of person who knows what her tasks are and just goes ahead and does it, so asking for work to do is not something I like.

My boss expects me to grow in the company to eventually take over his position. I would really love that, but sometimes I wonder if it was the right move to work in cost accounting. It is so much different than financial! I guess what I am trying to askvis have you ever work in cost accounting? How was your fist cost accounting job like? Were you more of an assistant for the senior cost accountant or controller? If you are reading this and have some experience in this field and would like to share it, I'd greatly appreciate it.
