    Fired w/o just cause
    My job fired me after 15yrs which was ruled without just caused by the unemployment judge. Do the company have to pay me severence pay?

    First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on another thread. To avoid confusion I've moved your post to its own thread,

    The ruling by an unemployment judge only affects your ability to get unemployment insurance payments. Companies do not have to pay severance at all. Severance is a matter of company policy or employment contract, not law.

    You would have to sue your former employer for lost wages from the unjust termination. But the criteria may be different than that for UI.
