    Property of others after a fire
    My TV repair business was in a strip mall that burned. Everything was lost including the tv's of my customers. The conclusion was faulty wiring in an air conditioning unit of the mall. Who is responsible to compensate my customers? My insurance does not cover property of others or personal property. Should I tell them to contact the property owner?

    No, either no one is liable, if you had proper written notice that you are not. Or you are liable, just because you did not purchase insurance to cover their property does not make you any less liable.

    So if on the receipts you give them, what disclaimers do you have on it.

    You are liable to your customers.
    The owner of the AC that caused the fire is liable to you. You will probably have to sue them, and that will probably mean hiring a lawyer, the sooner the better.

    Agreed, except for the part about suing. First you should make claim against the strip mall's insurance. If they honor the claim, problem solved.

    AK, I'm jaded by insurance companies, who seem to routinely deny every claim these days, and drag out the process as long as they can even dealing with lawyers.
