How do my girlfriend and I remove an unwanted order of protection?
My girl friend and I live in New York State. The court placed an order of protection from me to stay away from her until 2020. She does not want the order of protection. We have been together 5 years now and want to get rid of this. If we get caught together I can go to jail up to 5 years. She has wrote numerous letters to the d.a. and have been to about 4 meetings as well. The result is absolutely nothing and we can't live like this anymore. We can't even be caught in public grabbing a simple bite to eat. What do we do? Some one please help!!

Will an order of protection follow you to a different state?
My girl friend and I live in NY. There's is an order of protection placed by the court that neither of us want. We want to live together but obviously cannot here. We want to move to Florida. Will the o.p. follow us there?

Hello A:
I believe it will.. Each state supports the others states judgments and court orders..

Hello again, A:
It's not like it LITERALLY follows you... Nobody in NY is going to know you're moving, and nobody in Florida is going to know you're coming. The only time they'll find out about it, is if your GF makes a complaint. So, keep your hands to yourself, and you'll be fine..

This may or may not be true. It depends on if the OP is listed in the database for domestic violence. Then should he wish to become a gun owner or have a background check for a job it may come up if it is in affect.

Hello A:
We talked yesterday... You AIN'T going to get it removed.. I never heard of one lasting for 20 years, so she must have been hurt pretty bad... There's NO upside at all for a state to remove it. There's only down sides. It ain't going to happen.
