    Month to Month Lease
Hi I was on a 1 year lease in Alabama which ended July 2012. I am now on a month to month basis and due to a lay off have not been able to make rent payments. My rent is automatically deducted from a "paycard" from the job that I was laid off from... Not knowing immediately that I had been laid off the company continued to debit the funds from the account and although the funds weren't actually available the transactions were still going through. Now they are saying that they received a "charge back" for this amount 1800 Dollars. This amount is being taken from their account. Mind you this is a crappy over priced apartment. Being thast my lease was completetd Im wondering how much they can do and what can they put on my record. They were giving me reciepts for the transactions also.

You are responsible for the amount that was deducted erroneously. They can sue you if you don't pay.

This really has nothing to do with your apartment, but with your former employer.

Can my landlord require me to give a 2 months notice to vacate even though my lease is month to month? It was in the lease which was originally a 1 year lease which after the year, change to month to month. I can see giving 60 days with the year lease, but not on a month to month.
