I am all kinds of messed up right now. I've been under an enormous amount of stress the past few months; so stressed that I can't even remember whether I got my period last month. I've been having what feels like pain in my ovaries, sore breasts and mild lower back pain for the last couple of days. I know these are pregnancy symptoms, however I also get this way before my cycle starts. I took a first response test and my results were negative. If anyone could give me some advice I would really appreciate it. This guessing game is really killing me. :-(

When do your normally have your period? Are you having regular sex ?

Stress can cause these pains and also cause you to miss a period. If worried, test every week, till it is either positive or you have a period

As you already noted, those symptoms can be due to impending ovulation OR pregnancy.

Testing with first morning urine is the best approach, so if you've done that your result was most likely accurate. However, if you don't know WHEN you are in your cycle, it won't be of any use to you to test.

Like Chuck said, you could continue testing, or you could call and request a blood test from your doctor to put your mind at ease. Going through as much stress as you've described it might be another good reason to talk to your doctor to make sure your health is not being too seriously affected. Good luck

My cycles are very irregular recently within the past 6 months so there's really no saying when I usually get my period unfortunately. :-( As far as our sex life goes, we engage in sexual activity, but have not engaged in intercourse since the end of sept when we started to worry. Other than that it was regular, probably once or twice per week. I took a test Friday, so I'm going to wait until this upcoming weekend to take another. One more question, would it effect the pregnancy test to take it in the afternoon if I would already be aprox 1-1 1/2 months along? I was told the pregnancy hormone would have still shown positive even though it wasn't the first bathroom trip of the day.
