Patch to pill

I was on the ortho evra patch and because of pricing I switched to the pill. I started the pill pack on the same day as I would have for the patch. I had unprotected sex about 2-3 days after switching and I didn't think anything of it. Now my period is late, only by a day but I'm still worry. Did the pill protect me or no..
