Dripping noise in drain pipe bathroom
We just bought an apartment. The taps in the bath room are not dripping but there is a dripping sound in the drain. No-one is living in the unit yet so nothing else has been turned on. The apartment was built in the 70s and has a unit above it. We live in the tropics so it's nothing to do with expansion. It wasn't there when we bought the property. Does anyone know what this could be?

What drain is it that's dripping? Have you talked to your neighbor about this? Does it happen after he drains water? Get your neighbor involved and get back to me. Good luck, Tom

It's in the bathroom - and it now appears to be constant i.e. non-stop. I'll get onto the neighbour. Thanks aliw170

Sometimes a toilet will make this sound when you have a leaking flapper. The bowl fills up and slowly drips over.

You still haven't told us what drain in the bathroom that you hear dripping from. Tub/shower? Vanity? What? Back to you, Tom

Hello - sorry for the delay in getting back. The people upstairs got back to tme today, they have a dripping tap in the their bathroom and promise they'll have it fixed in the next couple of days. Thank you for responding to my question, I was really concerned - my biggest fear was that one of the pipes in the wall had sprung a leak.
For the record it was a drip in the bath drain. It's really quiet unusual - the neighbour whose got the leaking tap - can hear the dripping in their laundry tub which is in the garage one floor below us.

Again thank you for your consideration in getting back to me.

    Kind regards

    Ali

Hello, it's my first time doing an ask me question, and I can't say how pleasantly surprising it is to know there are helpful, knowledgeable people ready to go out of their way to assist others.

If the dripping tap upstairs doesn't fix the problem I'll check out the tolilet.

Have a great weekend and thanks again.
