    Dimplex electric heater wiring 6010020300
What kind of cable is best for connecting a Dimplex electric heater (6010020300) to an outlet? I have been using a Dynaprene 3 Cond, Type SO, 600V, 3-wire cable with no problem (except trying to find an extension for it).

    Thanks for your help.

Ideally those heaters should not be run on an extension cord. If you must use one, get one with a 14 gauge rating. It will say 14/2 plus ground. 600 volts is the insulation rating, not the amperage rating. What is the wattage of the unit? most heaters of this type are 1500 Watts and should be direct plugged into an outlet.

The heater is 2000 watts. I am happy to replace the existing wire, but I have been having difficulties determining what kind of cable I need and the type of plug (for 17 amps). The info from the heater is DBH 2000W, VAC 240/208, 17 AMPS. Thanks for whatever you can tell me.

For that heater you need a 12/2 with ground AND a 20 amp rated circuit with a 20 amp breaker. Ideally it should be on a dedicated circuit .By the way, is this a 120 or 240 unit?

It is a 240 V unit and has a dedicated circuit. Thanks for the info. Have a nice day.

Then it can be on a 14/2 with a 15 amp Double breaker. 17 amps @ 240 =4080watts and you said it was 2000. 15 amps @240 is 3600 watts.
