This has been bugging me so I hope someone can help. It is a movie I saw when I was a kid so in the 70's on TV about a girl and the only scene I remember fairly clearly that keeps playing in my head is she has some kind of bird (a black bird or possibly a robin) that can't fly and she shows it to some neighbor hood kids and proves it doesn't fly by tossing a stone at it and all the kids try and end up killing the bird before an adult comes along, a female somehow related to the main character, and shakes the girl saying something like what have you done and then next part I remember is she is laying on a bed running her fingers over the perch the bird used to live on. I think the adult comes in to talk to her or something and she runs away back to a run down shack she used to live in where she had done all the chores kind of a mountain backwoods kind of place you would think people who make moonshine would live. I also keep picturing the mother from bewitched might play in it as the girls grandmother. Not sure on the rest so I hope someone can help.
