I recently fitted a gas meter box in the side of my house prior to asking for a gas supply and meter. The fitting instructions suggested that the mortarwork should keep the box in place but there is a lip which hinders the mortaring process and now that it is dry I find that it still moves in and out. Is it permissible to drill a hole in either side of the box so that it can be secured to the brickwork?
